据来自 theinquirer.net 等各大网站的消息，微软(Microsoft)中国公司近日宣布，将从8月份开始对在中国地区销售的简体中文版家用 Windows Vista 操作系统进行上市以来的第一次大规模降价，也是微软公司首次针对家庭个人用户进行的一次促销活动。
按照微软中国公司的计划，从2007年8月1日起，家庭普通版的 Windows Vista 操作系统的价格从1521元降到499元，而家庭高级版的 Windows Vista 操作系统从1802元降到899元，而与此同时在中国地区销售的 Windows Vista 操作系统的其他版本也有不同程度的降价，不过此次活动只针对 Windows Vista 操作系统的正版盒装产品，至于其他 OEM 渠道或者盗版产品是不会享受到降价优惠的。
微软中国公司表示，这次大降价主要基于两个原因：（1）中国用户普遍认为Windows Vista操作系统的售价过高，无法承受。（2）微软公司希望用低价来吸引更多的中国用户，同时也能够改变目前 Windows Vista 操作系统在全球的不利局面。对于微软公司的这次有针对性的市场调整，中国国内反响巨大，因为微软公司的操作系统软件历来都是全球统一的销售价格，从来没有针对某一地区进行这样的降价活动，看来微软公司看中了中国这个潜力巨大的市场，不过降价的效果如何，还要经过市场的检验。
