微软 CEO Steve Ballmer 周一表示，公司下一步的规划重点已瞄准服务软件市场，即通过软件可以在互联网上进行语音交流和视频会议。
Ballmer 在微软东京会议上表示，微软准备在明年1月进入 VoIP 市场，发布集电子邮件、视频和即时通讯等功能于一体的新产品，而微软之前发布过一些具有不同 VoIP 功能的软件将会被整合到操作系统、桌面应用程序和服务软件中。
Ballmer 同时还郑重宣布，作为公司的旗舰级产品，新版 Windows Vista 操作系统的发布不会再出现长时间的延期了，微软通过 Vista 学到了不少经验。
明年1月恰好还是 Windows Vista 上市的日子，这是5年来第一个新的 Windows 版本，就像 IE7 也是5年来微软第一次升级自己的浏览器。
